“I Give Up, I’m Naked”: A Survivor’s Dramatic Tale on the End of the Colorado Grocery Store Massacre

An employee of the Boulder’s King Soopers supermarket who witnessed Monday’s mass shooting that left 10 people dead, including a veteran policeman, told the American network. CNN that the shooter shouted to the security forces “I surrender, I am naked”about 30 minutes after the first shot.

Maggie Montoya, a 25-year-old pharmacy technician, recounted Colorado Public Radio (CPR) that his boss shouted that there was an active shooter in the store, so she took refuge in a small room with a heavy metal door. Montoya revealed that the first ten minutes seemed to be when most shots were fired. “Then the store moved in,” he says.

The young woman told CPR and CNN that she heard the Boulder Police Department make a loudspeaker announcement in which the shooter was informed that the building was surrounded. According to her, the assailant replied: “I give up, I’m naked”.

Montoya assured that some 20 minutes before the police enter the building to arrest him, and indicated that they may have entered through the roof. Apparently the shooter was still “at the pharmacy when they told him to surrender” and “He repeated” I’m giving up, I’m naked “”added the employee.

Police identified Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa as a suspect in the shooting and clarified that the 21-year-old bought the gun he used in the shooting six days before the attack. The assailant was held in the county jail early Tuesday morning for murder after previously being treated in a hospital. Alissa was hit by a bullet that went through her leg, according to the affidavit.

Supermarket workers told investigators that Alissa shot a man outside the Boulder store several times before entering, according to the affidavit. Another person was found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle next to a car registered with the suspect’s brother.

Montoya, who worked at the supermarket for three years, claimed it was scary to leave the store with the police. Revealed that tried to avoid seeing the recumbent body of one of his colleagues, but he could not.

“I didn’t want to see him, but we all love him. She has always been so nice to us and she was my age, ”he said. “I think because of where he was in the store almost everyone saw him,” he added.
