Joe Biden denounces brutal repression in Myanmar: “It is absolutely intolerable”

Joe Biden said on Sunday that the bloodshed in Myanmar was “absolutely intolerable”., after security forces killed more than 100 protesters, including at least seven children.

“It’s terrible,” the President of the United States said in brief statements to the press in his home state of Delaware.

“It is absolutely intolerable and, according to the information I have received, a terrible number of people have been killed in a completely unnecessary manner” added.

The US Secretary of State, Antony blink, condemned the latest killing of civilians by security forces in Myanmar on Saturday and rejected the “reign of terror” of the military who took the reins of this Asian country.

For his part, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep borrell, denounced this Sunday “the horror and the shame” of the repression of the demonstrations against the coup, which left at least 114 dead on Saturday.

“The escalation of violence, with more than 100 killings of civilians perpetrated by the military against its own people on its Armed Forces Day, is unacceptable. Far from rejoicing, the Burmese army turned yesterday (Saturday) into a day of horror and shame, ”the Spanish diplomat said in a statement.

Thus, the EU’s highest diplomatic representative reiterated the EU’s condemnation the “ruthless violence” against the Burmese people and he called on the army to “stray from this foolish path”. “This tragedy must end.”

During the day on Saturday, 114 dead were reported due to the crackdown on protests against the February 1 coup, when the military deposed the civilian government. This Sunday, the protests continued and there were bombing of military aviation in the territory of the Karen minority.
