However, this Iraqi boy is the first to have triphalia, according to the case report published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. In 2015, a case in India went viral, but experts were unable to verify the story as it was never detailed in a medical journal.

At first, the boy’s parents took him to the hospital because of a swollen scrotum. But when he arrived, the doctors noticed that the boy had two more penises: one was two centimeters long and was located at the root of his main penis; the other was a centimeter long and was located under his scrotum.

According to Dr Shakir Saleem Jabali, author of the report, “To our knowledge, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphalia. There is no similar case in the literature on human beings ”.

Only one was functional, so the other two, attached to the shaft of his real penis and the bottom of his scrotum, were surgically removed.
