Following this discovery, a campaign was launched to obtain samples of these spheres in order to discover a little more about their functioning. However, It was not possible to determine whether all the embryos belong to the same species of squid. On the other hand and as for the black spot inside, it would be due to “a release of ink at the time of the fertilization of the eggs”.
