Coronavirus in Mexico as of April 7: 596 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours

This Wednesday April 7, the Ministry of Health (SSa) indicated that the new coronavirus left a recording of 205,598 deaths, which represents 596 deaths in the last 24 hours. Regarding the accumulation of cases, estimate at 2455816.

From the National Palace, as part of the dynamic put in place by the health establishment, José Luis Alomía, Director of Epidemiology, was in charge of reading the COVID-19 technical report, which indicates, in addition to the accumulated record of the disease, the active epidemic, epidemiological incidence, the occupation of hospitals and the advancement of the national immunization day against SARS-CoV-2, currently in phase 2, which deals with the immunization of the elderly.

In reference to active epidemic, the official said that as part of the downward trend that has continued in the republic since January this year, the percentage of active cases continues in 1%, which equals 25,855 patients. This means that in the last 14 days this is the total number of infected COIVD-19. We must not forget that they are the ones who have the capacity to infect more people.

According to hospital profession, the figures continue to favor Mexicans, since the hospital occupation is 19%This is due to the reduced incidence of infection that was reflected in the beds used to care for patients with COVID-19.

More precisely, in general beds (without artificial respiratory assistance), there is occupation of the 18%, which means that the 31,137 beds that are in total, 25673 are available and 5464 are busy. By entity, Alomía indicated that no state has an occupation greater than 30%.

Similarly, in the report on Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) beds, the report of the beds with fan (with artificial respiratory support), which comes from 22 percent. This means that from the 10,897 beds that are in total, 8,554 are available and 2,343 are occupied. Regarding this position by entity, there are four which maintain an occupation of between 30 and 49%: Mexico City, Chihuahua, Querétaro and Tabasco. All other states are below 30 percent.

In reference to reduction in hospital occupancy rate, the director of epidemiology clarified that this reflects the decrease in the infectious incidence. From until Tuesday 6, Puebla was the only entity classified with an occupancy rate above 30% in general beds and Yucatan it was included in the same category for beds with a fan; however, that result was reversed for this Wednesday.

Likewise, vaccination progress continues in Mexico. According to what was referred by the official, until the deadline of 4:00 p.m. (Central Mexican time), the health authorities applied on Tuesday. 314,666 injections. Regarding the total number of injections applied, this amounts to 10 089 420.

In this area, Hugo lopez-gatell, Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, presented the cumulative number of cases that presented reactions to the active substances contained in the vaccines. In this regard, he highlighted a total of 14,218 reported cases (0.1%), of which 143 (1%) are reported as serious.

By pharmaceutical laboratory, the list is titled Pfizer-BioNTech with 12911; follow him AstraZeneca with 545, SinoVac with 530, Sputnik V with 189, CanSino with 37, they eventually reported three in the “unknown” and “overseas vaccines” categories.
