On the other hand, in an area of ​​Barranquilla, we see how water floods the streets and houses of many inhabitants and once again the garbage floats on the surface of the water.

Faced with this emergency, the Barranquilla water, sewerage and cleaning company announced that it was suspending pumping for certain areas of the city precisely because of the amount of waste. “Triple A reports that it prevented the suspension of pumping at that time for some areas of Barranquilla and municipalities due to the amount of garbage and sediment dragged by Don Juan Creek to the vicinity of the intake. the district aqueduct “, they reported.

“Produced from the rain that fell in the south-east of the city and in Soledad. We have activated our emergency plan and we are analyzing the situation to minimize the risks and quickly recover the pumping ”, they added.

The National Disaster Risk Management Unit (Ungrd) has announced that the current winter season known as ‘La Niña’, which intensified in March, has already claimed the lives of 43 people, in addition to causing 23 injuries. In addition, 2,565 families were affected throughout the country by the rains, in some regions, historic in recent days.

To date, 256 events related to precipitation have been presented in 166 municipalities belonging to 17 departments. The report published by the entity includes 144 mass movements, 44 floods, 27 major floods in rivers and streams, 19 gales with heavy rains, 13 gales, six torrential avenues, two hailstorms and one thunderstorm.

Currently, the most affected departments are Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca, Nariño, Cauca, Huila and Antioquia. The UNGRD report shows that 1,664 houses have suffered damage from this natural phenomenon and 25 others have been totally destroyed in the past 20 days.
