The archipelago of Malta announces that pay up to one hundred euros to tourists who decide to spend their 2021 summer vacation there, in an attempt to revive the tourist season after the economic disaster generated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The plan is aimed at independent tourists, that is to say those who come alone in the country without agencies involved, who go to this island in the Mediterranean from next June 1 and who book a minimum of three hotel nights.

The Maltese Tourism Authority has indicated that it has a budget of 3.5 million euros for the plan which will benefit up to 35,000 tourists. The same pay 100 euros per person in five-star hotel reservations, 75 euros in four-star establishments and 50 euros per person in the case of three-star accommodation.

In addition, tourists staying at Island of Gozo, the second largest in Malta, They will benefit from an additional 10% reduction on their reservations.

The goal, they explain, is attract visitors and recover from the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, this has particularly shaken the tourism sector, one of Malta’s main economic activities. Due to the restrictions, the number of visitors to the island fell by 77%: from 2,771,888 tourists in 2019 to 658,000 in 2020.
