Claudia Sheinbaum interviewed INE and asked to reflect on TEPJF’s decision on the withdrawal of Salgado Macedonio’s candidacy

This afternoon, the head of government of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, pronounced on the withdrawal of the candidatures of the Morenistas Felix Salgado Macedonio for Guerrero and Raúl Morón for Michoacán.

During the question-and-answer session of her usual press videoconference, the President stressed the importance of know the judgment of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation on the case of Salgado and his candidacy, which was again rejected by the National Electoral Institute (OTHER).

Sheinbaum read part of this resolution in which it was considered that the sanction of not allowing him to be a candidate was “Constitutionally disproportionate”, The same which, he assured, was not broadcast by the media and “little has been revealed”.

“The only thing I say to avoid getting into the debate is: I read what the TEPJF says and what it says is that it is”constitutionally disproportionate “ the INE decision, which is why he refers it back and asks them to consider it constitutionally disproportionate. He also believed that the sovereignty of the people and the right to vote for their leaders should be defended. “INE must be impartial.”

However, he said that the measures taken by the INE were for one political party, for which he considered to act partially.

“INE takes sides, some INE advisers, including its president, they take sides. They shouldn’t just take sides, ”he said.

On the other hand, the president was also questioned about the threats of Félix Salgado Macedonio to go to the home of INE President Lorenzo Cordova.

“I understand that Félix Salgado Macedonio himself mentioned that the intervention he made it was not a call, far from it “He said, noting that so far no surveillance has been sent to the house as it is not identified that there are people outside the property. However, if they are reported, a watch will be sent.

“If there is a risk, we will obviously fulfill our role of government. If there was surveillance, obviously to protect how someone is protected, but I understand that if there was such a call, later it was corrected“.

And it should be recalled that yesterday afternoon it was announced that the General Council of INE reiterated the decision to cancel the registration of Salgado Macedonio is running as governor of Guerrero.

The vote was set with six votes for and five against to withdraw his candidacy for Guerrero. Now Morena will have 48 hours to replace Salgado Macedonio with another candidate for the post of governor of the aforementioned state.

After the publication of this news, Salgado Macedonio, along with Raúl Morón and Morena National President Mario Delgado, set up a sit-in outside the INE facilities, to demand that their applications be referred to them.

At the sit-in, his supporters they placed a black coffin and in large white letters, in which a threat to Lorenzo Córdova was read.

“Lorenzo, count your days demon rat”read on the coffin. In addition, before that, Salgado Macedonio threatened to reveal the address of Córdova and six other advisers, in case his candidacy for governor of Guerrero was not fired. Hhours later, the former candidate denied it was a threat.
