“Do not travel”: Argentina, in the long list of destinations the United States advises against.

NEW YORK – The state department today included the Argentina in the list of nations to which recommend “not to travel” for the “unprecedented risk to travelers” posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Argentina is part of nearly 80% of countries in the world which appeared in the list of destinations to avoid in order not to risk the virus. Brazil, which has the third highest number of cases and the second highest number of deaths in the world, is also included.

Until, 34 countries out of around 200 they were classified in the category “Level 4: do not travel”. Among these countries, the authorities responsible for external relations included, among others, Chad, Kosovo, Kenya, Brazil, Argentina, Haiti, Mozambique, Russia and Tanzania.

“This update will mean a significant increase in the number of countries at Level 4: Do not travel, up to about 80% of countries in the world,” the State Department said in a statement.

As the State Department warned, the decision to update its list it does not result from a particular “reassessment” of the epidemiological situation “in a given country”, but rather emerged as a way to align it with the opinions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The measure “reflects an adjustment to the State Department’s travel advisory system to rely more on existing epidemiological assessments” by the CDC, the government reported.

Only Macao, Taiwan and New Zealand are the countries in the world that are rated at the lowest level of the four risk levels characterized by “Take normal precautions”.

CDC advises Americans to avoid travel within the country until they have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine and points out that flying abroad involves facing “additional risks” , including for people who are immune.

Airlines to America, which represents major US airlines, said that “the US airline industry has been a strong advocate for developing a data and risk-based roadmap to restore international travel.”
