The president, Alberto Fernández, will be on a tour of Europe which will start on May 10 and will last for five days. He will go first to Spain, then he will go to Portugal, he will also go to France, where he has already confirmed a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, and the last stop will be in Italy where he will hold another bilateral meeting, in this case of the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi. Sources close to Fernández assured this newspaper that one of the main objectives of the trip will be to seek different international support for the negotiations that the country is leading with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

As part of the international activities that the president has on the agenda for the next few days, this Tuesday at noon the president will participate today by video conference in the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government and on Thursday he will participate in the virtual summit against climate change to which he was specially invited, along with 40 other world leaders, by US President Joe Biden.

As for the official activities of the European tour, so far they have reported from Casa Rosada that only two have been confirmed and these are the meetings with the French President and with the Italian Prime Minister. We also know that the meeting with Macron will be a lunch. One of the things that has not yet been defined is who will be who will constitute the official delegation that will accompany the president.

On the other hand, the Ibero-American Summit of Andorra, which takes place under the slogan “Innovation for sustainable development – Objective 2030. Ibero-America facing the challenge of the coronavirus”, will have the participation of Fernández who will connect from Quinta de Olivos.

The President will speak at 5.30 p.m. in Andorra (12.30 p.m. Argentina time) during the plenary session of the Ibero-American Summit which takes place in Andorra la Vieja, the capital of Andorra, in which the Secretary General of the Nations United Nations, António Guterres; and the rest of the leaders or representatives of the 22 countries invited in a semi-direct manner, official sources reported.

In person, the Prime Minister of Andorra, Xavier Espot Zamora; the President of Portugal and the Prime Minister, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Antonio Costa, respectively; the Spanish leaders, Pedro Sánchez; from Guatemala, Alejandro Giammatei; and from the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader and King Felipe VI, of Spain.

In virtual form, there will be the co-princes of Andorra, made up of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron and the Bishop of the Diocese of Seo de Urgel, Joan Enric-Vives.

With Fernández, the Bolivian leaders, Luis Arce; from Chile, Sebastián Piñera; from Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez; from Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada; from Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel; from Ecuador, Lenín Moreno; from El Salvador, Nayib Bukele; from Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and from Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández. In addition, the presidents of Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela will participate.
