Germán Montes de Oca is a field hockey referee from Mendoza recognized for his international career and also works as a dentist in the prison service (SP) of the province.

For a year he suspended his work at the San Felipe complex because it is one of the groups at risk for the coronavirus, because he suffers from diabetes, according to sources from the capital prison.

However, in the last few weeks it turned out that he had surrendered to lead the meetings of Lions against India and Germany, which were developed in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), currently the jurisdiction with the highest number of COVID-19 infections nationwide.

For this reason, a prison chief of the aforementioned complex reported him to the courts for breach of his duties as a public official.

The case angered the authorities, because, they understood in the complaint, he continued to work in his career as an arbitrator while on medical leave at the Prison Service, with benefits, indicated sources consulted.

Before the judicial presentation, the General Security Inspectorate (IGS) opened an administrative investigation and yesterday he was summoned to an investigation to explain his situation. However, refused to testifythey added.

The investigations leading to the two cases wait for medical reports to verify their situation and to determine why he couldn’t go to work in the jail but he could run Los Leones games in the midst of the second wave of the pandemic.
