“Youth, divine treasure …”: the moving reading of Rubén Darío’s poem to 19 voices from around the world

Today is World Book Day, and readers are clinging to literature to weather the trials of these uncertain times. The answer to today’s questions may lie in the books. Perhaps. As in the already emblematic poem by Ruben Dario: Autumn song in spring.

The Centroamérica Cuenta Festival brought together renowned authors from Europe and Latin America to celebrate International Book Day with collective reading. Last year was Litanies to Our Lord Don Quixote, also by the Nicaraguan poet.

On this occasion, they participate (in order of appearance): Santiago Muñoz Machado (Spain), Sergio ramirez (Nicaragua), Elena Poniatowska (Mexico), Pablo Milanes (Cuba), Raul zurita (Chile), Rubén blades (Panama), Isabel Allende (Chile), Luis Garcia Montero (Spain), Susana Read (Peru), Hector Abad Faciolince (Colombia), Rosa Montero (Spain), Carmen Aristegui (Mexico), Pablo simonetti (Chile), Sandra Cisneros (United States), Leonardo padura (Cuba), Carlos Vives (Colombia), Nelida Piñón (Brazil), Joaquin sabina (Spain) and Piedad Bonnett (Colombia).

“Thread Santiago Muñoz Machado, Director of the Royal Academy of Language, did us the honor of opening the reading, and we have now added artists to writers, because music and poetry are part of the great cultural heritage of Latin America . A diversity of voices that come together to celebrate the vitality and beauty of our great language, ”he said. Sergio Ramirez, Cervantes Prize 2017 and president of Centroamérica Cuenta.

The result is a moving choral reading of an eternal and universal poem: “Youth, divine treasure …”
