Hundreds of people named Josh gathered in a Nebraska park to fight and “keep the name.”

A rare fight for Josh’s name drew crowds from across the country to a Nebraska park on Saturday for a series of competitions that included a duel in a noodle pool.

It all started a year ago, when pandemic boredom gripped 22-year-old student Josh Swain from Tucson, Ariz., messaged other people who shared his name on social media and challenged them to a duel.

“You’re probably wondering why I got you together today,” he wrote in a Facebook group chat to others named Josh Swain. “On April 24, 2021, at 12 noon, we will meet at these coordinates. We will fight, whoever wins can keep the name. Everything else will have to change yours. You have a year to prepare, good luck. “

The joke went viral, and eventually hundreds of people turned up at Lincoln’s Air Park – a random location – to participate in “Dueling” Day.

The festivities began with a “grueling and fair battle of the Rock-Paper-Scissors” between Josh Swain of Arizona and another Josh Swain from Omaha. KLKN-TV reports that the Arizona student won this contest, allowing him to claim the title of real Josh Swain.

During this time, other assistants played in duels, all are friendly. And the rules were clear.
