Marko Cortes, national leader of STOVE (National Action Party), the country’s main opposition, questioned Governor Morena’s decision to grant the candidacy for governor of the state of Guerrero to Evelyn Salgado, daughter of Félix Salgado Macedonio, who lost the registration for not showing pre-campaign expenses.

“Good news first, Mexico will no longer have a rapist governor. Mexico is not going to have a federal deputy who abuses minors, ”Cortés said on Sunday at a press conference in the state of Aguascalientes, on a campaign tour for the candidates of his coalition, referring to Salgado Macedonio but also to legislator Saúl Huerta.

I trust the intelligence of the guerrillas and I simply decide for whoever is the best project for their state

Asked if he considers that the case will be the same as that of “Juanito”, Cortés replied: “I would say if she’s the candidate then it seems obvious”. In 2009, the character known by this nickname, Rafael Acosta Ángeles, was the candidate of the PRD (Party of the Democratic Revolution), then a bastion of the Mexican left, to the mayor of Iztapalapa, the largest and most populous in Mexico City.

However, his candidacy was supported by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, now President of Mexico, then recent loser in the 2006 presidential elections with the PRD. The intention was that “Juanito” appeared on the ballot as a candidate for the left-wing coalition and, once he won the election, he would take time off to allow Clara Brugada to take office., who at that time in the Electoral Court rejected the candidacy.

However, Acosta Ángeles would remain in office for several months, breaking the pact with López Obrador and the party, although he would later leave the office of the mayor of Iztapalapa after heavy pressure. groups that brought him to power.

The comparison is not idle. Salgado Macedonio, a licensed senator, was elected by Morena, the party founded by López Obrador that finally brought him to power in 2018, as the candidate for governor of Guerrero, the biggest electoral booty in the upcoming midterm elections on June 6.

However, its registration was canceled by the electoral court, which ratified the INE judgment (National Electoral Institute), who sanctioned him for not submitting his pre-campaign report in a timely manner.

Morena then chose, with a questionable poll where he even directly identified her by her relationship with the former mayor of Acapulco Evelyn Salgado, daughter of Governor Candidate Salgado Macedonio. The two, father and daughter, rejected the idea that the same would happen in 2009 with “Juanito”.

“Morena really has the worst candidates and the worst profiles. I’ve said it before, rapists, groped, abusers and even the national leader of Morena himself, linked to this sect of sexual abuse, incredible ”, for his part questioned Marko Cortés this Sunday.

The truth is that Morena has unrepresentable people and what I would say is that people should sanction this type of act.

Finally, Cortés assured that Morena “must receive a sanction”. “Must receive a punishment in the vote, because they did not comply, because they are cynical, scoundrels in the fight against corruption, who proposed to end direct rewards and not only did not remove them, they increased them to more than double what they were, ”he said .
