Basel, a large Swiss city, has made an otherwise controversial decision.
In order to get rid of the homeless, the city offers free train tickets to those who, as beggars, request them.
Their intention is to leave and never to return to Switzerland.
The commitment must be signed in writing, published in the 20 Minuten media.
If they return, they risk deportation.

So far, 31 people have signed up for the initiative: 14 from Romania, 7 from Belgium, 7 from Germany, 2 from Italy and 1 from France.
However, some homeless people from Romania seem to be opting for some flight deals. An airline has connections from Basel to Bucharest for 60 francs “and several reservations have already been made for Romanians, according to Roger Berberat”, of the Travelpoint agency, to the newspaper Basler Zeitung.
It is also indicated that several were entered several times with different identifications. Someone even handed over a document valid for 60 years, which “no state offers”.
However, the airline Wizz Air, which operates cheap flights to Romania, apparently has no issues with these passengers, as its reservation system accepts dates up to 2077.
