AMLO government declared three days of national mourning for metro line 12 tragedy

The afternoon of May 4, The federal government has said there will be three days of national mourning for the tragedy that occurred on line 12 of Mexico City’s metro transit system. In addition, in the decree published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), it was stipulated that as a sign of national mourning, it was agreed to raise the national flag at half mast on May 4 and 6, 2021.

The presidential decree published in the evening edition of the DOF, The Federal Government led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has expressed solidarity and deep sorrow towards the deceased and injured, as well as their respective families after the collapse of a section of the metro in the capital that occurred on the night of May 3.

Likewise, the ad was shared via the social networks of the CDMX Government, where the list of patients who were injured after the accident and who are currently being treated or have already been released by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

Since the morning of this Tuesday, before the publication of the decree, flags were hoisted at half mast in government buildings, Congress and the National Palacel, located in the Plaza de la Constitución. To this cause is added the Senate of Mexico, whose members observed a minute of silence in mourning for the victims of the accident in the city of Tláhuac.

Until, the CDMX Global Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat (SGIRPC) reported the deaths of 24 people and also reported that 69 users are hospitalized. In addition, 26 people have not been located, according to LOCATEL information.

During a press conference, Myriam Urzúa Venegas, head of SGIRP, reported that among the victims killed, 21 died at the scene and three in the hospitals that received people damaged after the collapse between Olivos station and Tezonco.

Some of the medical units in which there are still hospitalized users are as follows: ISSSTE Hospital in Tláhuac, November 20 Hospital, Tláhuac General Hospital, Xoco General Hospital, Balbuena General Hospital, IMSS No.2 Regional Hospital, San Ángel Inn Hospital, Durango Sanatorium, Magdalena Salinas Hospital, Iztapalapa General Hospital , La Villa General Hospital, Álvaro Obregón Hospital, as well as the IMSS Trauma, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Hospital Dr Victorio de la Fuente.
