The first video of nonuplets that a Malian woman gave birth: five girls and four boys

This Thursday a video showing the nine babies, five girls and four boys, who a Malian woman gave birth on Tuesday in Morocco.

Halima Cisse, 25 years old and from Timbuktu (north), was transferred on March 30 from Bamako, where she was receiving treatment, in Morocco, for better follow-up of this unusual pregnancy.

The delivery was by caesarean section and the babies, who they weighed between 500 grams and one kilo, they were doing well, according to the doctors. In the video, the nipples are seen in incubators, cared for by nurses.

The specialists were concerned about the health of the mother and the chances of survival of the fetuses. The young woman was admitted to the hospital with 25 weeks pregnant but the intervention of medical staff allowed extend gestation until week 30.

Gestation initially indicated septupletsBut the woman eventually gave birth to nine children, two more than what had been detected in ultrasounds performed in Mali and Morocco.

“So far the mother and her children are doing well”, Health Minister Fanta Siby said she had been informed by the Malian doctor who was accompanying the mother to Morocco.

Anyway, stay in the hospital for two to three more monthsuntil they are at a healthy weight so they can go home.

Currently it is not known if your pregnancy was due to IVF treatment, which is one of the most common causes of multiple births. It is also not known how much babies weigh or how far you are during your pregnancy.

The first recorded birth of nonuplets was in Sydney in 1971. Two babies were stillborn and none of the others survived for more than a week.

In another case in Malaysia, in 1999, all nine babies died shortly after birth.

The Guinness Book of Records lists how largest multiple births in which babies have survived in the case of American Nadya Suleman, who in January 2009 gave birth to octillizos.

The news of the nonuplets of Mali is known a few days later woman who didn’t know she was pregnant gave birth on a flight to Hawaii, in an episode that went viral on social networks.
