New York will offer vaccines to those who visit to attract tourism

NEW YORK.- New York is committed to returning to the level of tourism of years ago, for which, in addition to offering its usual attractions, will now offer visitors a COVID-19 vaccine from the Ministry of Health.

This was announced Thursday by Mayor Bill de Blasio, who still needs final state approval.

“This summer, tourism will come back to life in New York”said de Blasio during a press conference at the town hall.

“We want to make an extra effort, to make it easier for tourists, if they are here, get vaccinated while you are here“, He said.

According to ourworldindata.org, in the state of New York at least 49.94% of its population received a dose of the vaccine, and is the third state with the most vaccines administered, 16.3 million, behind California (31.6 million) and Texas (19.5 million).

The De Blasio government hopes to establish mobile vaccination sites in popular urban destinations such as Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Central Park and High Line vaccinate visitors against Covid-19 with Johnson & Johnson, the single dose vaccine.

“It makes sense to place mobile vaccination sites where tourists are,” said De Blasio. “It’s good that everyone gets vaccinated. It’s good for them, it’s another reason to be here and to know that they will take care of you ”.

People who receive the J&J vaccine are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after the injection, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
