Two women who met via social media in China discovered that their great resemblance was due to the fact that they were identical twins.

Cheng Keke, 29, from Gongyi City, Henan Province, announced through Douyin of ByteDance, Chinese TikTok, that DNA test results confirmed his biological relationship with Zhang Li, who lives in 50 years. kilometers away. They learned last month that they were separated at birth when their single mother abandoned them for adoption.

“Today I have an older sister”, Cheng announced in a video message.

It all started in January, when Cheng’s sister-in-law told him that A martial arts school teacher in Kaifeng City looked a lot like him. The similarities were so striking that even those close to Cheng couldn’t tell who was who.

Cheng searched the social network Douyin for the teacher until he found her.

Zhang Li is the mother of an 11-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, and when she met Cheng, she began to discover that the similarities weren’t just physical. Not. They were both born in the same month of the same year, but their birthdays were several days apart. And it is that Cheng was registered when they abandoned her for adoption, several days after her birth.

They also found out that they had the same blood type, liked the same type of food, dressed the same, and even shared repeated clothes in their closet.

The two women had a video call a month after the first contact and were amazed. “Do I look at myself in a mirror? Zhang asked at the time.

Cheng was the only daughter of her adoptive parents, and she never suspected that she might be adopted. But after seeing Zhang, he had questions. He said he struggled for two months before he had the courage to ask them.

Her mother initially denied that Cheng was adopted, but eventually confessed that he was introduced into the family by an elderly woman 29 years ago about whom little is known. Cheng and Zhang met the next day.

“I was so nervous I couldn’t sleep. My legs were shaking. I was more nervous than when I was giving birth “Cheng recalled.

“I was really excited when I finally met Zhang Li and immediately felt close. We have the same canines and moles on our faces. Our voices sound the same and we both cover our mouths when we laugh “, Cheng said.

Cheng’s mother went to meet Zhang for their second meeting, which She cried for a long time and kept saying that she would have adopted both babies if she had known there was a twin.

The two women and their adoptive mothers met at the end of last month. Zhang’s adoptive mother, identified only by her last name Han, said that the biological mother was not married when she had the twins and that she had asked others to help her find them a home.

Han said that at the time he couldn’t afford to raise the two girls, So he only had the oldest left after paying 600 yuan ($ 92). Cheng’s mother said she agreed to take the daughter out of compassion after being rejected by two other families: Cheng was born premature and couldn’t cry at the time. Zhang was also too weak to cry or eat, according to Han, who had to feed her formula with a syringe for a week before Zhang could eat on her own.

Han initially objected to the DNA test for fear that her daughter would abandon her to search for her birth mother, but eventually agreed after the two women promised that the mothers would not lose a daughter, but would get a new one.

The two women had said they did not want to find their biological parents.

They (their biological parents) would come and get us if they wanted. Where have they been for the past 30 years?Dijo Zhang Li.
