And in the last 24 hours only three countries in the world, there were more deaths: India, Brazil and United States.

The other two occasions where Argentina had exceeded 600 deaths in 24 hours occurred in the last 10 days: they were 663 – recorded – on May 5, and 611 on the previous Friday. The second wave, it is clear, does not give way.

Signed by the circulation of more aggressive variants than the original, this stage of the pandemic has caused overcrowding of intensive therapy, and death numbers have increased more easily. After reaching 50,000 dead on February 12, the country took 68 days to reach 60,000: it did so on April 21. Only 23 days have passed since then.

The country ranked fourth in the global one-day death table

The 601 deaths reported in the last 24 hours put Argentina in the top positions in the world in this area, surpassed only by the India, Brazil (they represent half of deaths from the virus worldwide) and United States.

According to the classification of Worldometer, an international website that provides real-time estimates and statistics, the country came fourth in numbers as of May 5: it reported just 117 fewer deaths than the United States (718), which has a larger population. seven times more numerous.
