In its 37th edition, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) It is accepted as the most rigorous, impartial and influential annual wine competition in the world.
During the annual tasting, which took place in April 2021, three wines from Mendoza, belonging to Huentala Wines, were highlighted:
Gold medals (gold):
BIG HAT – Malbec 2020.
HAT – Malbec 2020.
Silver medal (silver):
BIG HAT – Cabernet Franc 2020.
The rigorous process involves a “blind” evaluation of each wine, judging each on its fidelity to style, region and vintage.
Each medal-winning wine was tasted on at least three separate occasions by at least 2 juries who tasted together, then were tasted by 2 co-presidents to verify the jury’s results.

Why is this competition special?
An IWC medalist wine is tasted by a minimum of 8 judges before being awarded. The rigorous process is respected by international wine buyers and retailers and opens the door to international business communication.
All wines are blind tasted without any price or producer information being provided. The wines are grouped by type, region, percentage of alcohol and sugar, ensuring that similar wines are judged together.
All IWC wine results are hosted on the IWC website along with a photo of the bottle to ensure the winning wine can be easily identified by the business and consumers.
