“Irresponsible opportunists”: Claudia López points out to Gustavo Petro and Álvaro Uribe to profit politically from the strike

Bogotá Mayor Claudia López took to her Twitter account this Thursday morning to sharply criticize Álvaro Uribe and Gustavo Petro’s stance on the nationwide strike that lasted 21 days. The president called the two political leaders “irresponsible opportunists”.

More specifically, he declared that Senator Petro “blocks the consultation delighted by the electoral profitability that the strike confers on it”, insinuating that this does not allow the dialogue tables in advance to stop the national situation, while recalling that the former senator Uribe “to unblock in the hope that the desire for order after 20 days of blockade will save it electorally.” On Monday, President Iván Duque ordered the use of force to unblock the country.

He then pointed out that the two leaders use young people as “cannon fodder”. In another tweet, he added:

“The lives and fair demands of our young people and citizens cannot remain prisoners of the electoral opportunism of Petro and Uribe.”

He added: “Extreme poverty and unemployment are the biggest obstacle to the opportunities and hopes of millions of young people and families in poverty exacerbated by the pandemic. For his part, Colombian Senator Humana first replied to one of the tweets sent to the mayor, wishing him a speedy recovery, then told him that it was time to have a broad unity to stop “the attack on life, peace and the Constitution», Stressing that a coup d’etat would come soon. In a previous tweet, he said former President Uribe “sparked the breakup” of Magna Carta with “barbarism and murder of young people.”

For his part, in other tweets, López says that Uribe and Petro must face the deal and take responsibility for it and suggests that police vandalism and abuse have political leaders capitalizing on the facts.
