During 20 years, Andrés “M” assassin, dismembered, and this Ate a women. Everything happened in his home located in the town of Atizapan of Zaragoza, in the State of Mexico.

This was the case with Reyna Gonzalez Amador, who was reported missing and later found dismembered, which led authorities to the 72-year-old subject, who could be a serial femicide.

However, this is not the first it will not be the last either. Homicides are on the rise in Mexico and around the world. And although it is not known exactly how many are free on the streets, the FBI, for example, according to the site WorldAtlas, states that exist between 25 and 50 free serial killers in America. But the number could be much higher.

The discipline of Forensic psychology, offered by professionals in psychiatry, medicine, psychology and law, has evolved over the years to help understand how and when were the murderers born serial.

There is a model in the branch called MacDonald’s triad, who tries to find out if they exist and what are the factors in a person who predispose become a serial killer.

What could they have in common Charles Manson, Richard Ramirez, Juana Barraza Samperio, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Raúl Osiel Marroquín, and Andrés “N”?

The theory was proposed by New Zealand Coroner John MacDonald in 1963 in his text entitled The threat to kill (The Killing Threat), published in the magazine American Journal of Psychiatry.

And although not scientifically proven and also received several reviews, has become a popular model in society for probably distinguish someone who could become, or be, a serial killer.

However, some of the proponents of the thesis claim that the triad can be a predictor to detect manipulation, psychological violence, selfishness, insensitivity and moral inhibition. There are three variables: enuneris, arsonism, and animal abuse.

The enuneris is a sleep disorder characterized by urinary incontinence in the early ages. Psychologically, the condition could lead to social rejection and low self-confidence due to their inability to control their bladder.

The pyromania would be the impulse, since childhood, of set objects on fire. But as age advances, so do things of value and size.

The last is the animal abuse: since childhood rape animals with little defense in order to vent the anger and frustration.

Critics of the model argue that you don’t necessarily need one or all three factors offered by MacDonald to end up becoming a serial killer. Another drawback is based on the fact that the study was carried out with a small sample on only 48 psychotic and 52 non-psychotic patients, all exhibiting sadistic and violent behaviors.

However, others consider that this could serve as a basis for other theories. There is a consensus on certain traits: that psychopathic people lacks empathy and remorse and has a narcissistic personality, for example.

And although the triad continues to be influential and an widely taught and disseminated hypothesis, the investigations continue without fully validating the line of thought. Studies, for example, have found that there is no statistically significant relationship between the triad and violent criminals.

Others suggest that these three factors are more related to childhoods with abuse, experiences of brutality and neglect parents, according to sociologist and psychologist Margaret DiCanio in her Encyclopedia of Violence.
