Spain will allow entry of tourists with vaccines, but list does not include Sputnik

Spain, second world tourist destination before the pandemic, will allow anyone vaccinated against covid to enter their territory as of June 7, regardless of their country of originGovernment President Pedro Sánchez announced on Friday. They must present a certificate attesting to having received the full treatment regimen of a vaccine authorized by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization, which includes Sinopharm, but not yet Sputnik.

“Since June 7, all vaccinated people and their families are also welcome in our country, Spain, regardless of their place of origin,” said the president.

From Monday May 24, Spain will also allow the British, the first tourist contingent in normal times, to come “without restrictions and without health requirements”Sánchez added to the international tourism fair Fitur.
Until now, the British could only come to Spain in case of great need. However, it is not clear whether or not they should show a negative PCR upon arrival, as is currently the case.

Apart from the United Kingdom, this lifting of restrictions on arrivals in Spain concerns nine other countries outside the European Union, whose residents could until now only make justified trips in cases of force majeure.

On the list are among others China, Japan, Australia, Israel and New Zealand, but there are no Latin American countries.
Spain, which was the world’s second largest tourist destination in 2019, expects to attract some 45 million foreign tourists in 2021, half the number before the pandemic.
Previously, the British represented the largest contingent of foreign visitors, with 18 million arrivals in 2019.

Its return to Spanish beaches is important for the country, which before the pandemic had 14% of its GDP in tourism.
Entries by residents of European Union countries have never been restricted, although these visitors must present a negative PCR from 6 years old.
