For Patel, the British “want a new system that works for the law-abiding majority and against those who hope to abuse our hospitality and generous spirit.”

During his appearance, he also announced the introduction of an electronic travel authorization, “in the style of the American ESTA”, to prohibit the entry into the United Kingdom of “dangerous foreign criminals”.

Scheduled to be launched before 2025, this permit will be required for those without a visa or immigration status, except Irish citizens.
