Made in 1970 with a concrete curtain 6.5 meters high and 324 meters wide The Peach, located in Hidalgo, suffers its second drought After its debut, the first was in 1982, however, renters comment that the current season is the most critical who have lived. Mario Gomez Olvera, who raises his sheep to fatten up regardless of the body of the dam, says it is worrying that it won’t rain as this would be the second year the dam has been completely emptied. “If it rains a little, the dry ground sucks it in. We used to take out a little fish and eat it, but there was no more. We have to make a request to SEMARNAT so that they can plant more fish for us ”.

According to NASA, through its Earth Studies programs, it has stated that Mexico suffers from generalized drought phenomenon, after having analyzed, thanks to an operational generator of images of the earth, that the 85% of our territory lack of precipitation, due to “The girl”, a phenomenon that causes the generally cold waters of the Pacific Ocean to prevent rain clouds from forming, reducing precipitation by 20% less in the southern United States and Mexican territory.

Data from the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) shows that over the past three years in Hidalgo state, rains have averaged below the national average. It is therefore expected that the reflecting pool will take at least two years to reactivate. According to state-level Commission officials, 8 of the state's 37 dams have dried up due to one of our country's most severe droughts. PHOTO: JUAN PABLO ZAMORA /CUARTOSCURO.COM May 26, 2021
