Shooting in front of the luxurious Prime restaurant in South Beach: two injured

Violent weekend at Miami-Dade. The resounding Sunday morning shootout between two gangs in the rap world – which left two dead and 21 injured – is joined by six more shootings in an often much quieter county. One of the shootings that made international headlines occurred shortly before midnight last night in South Beach, Miami Beach’s most famous neighborhood..

At around 11:30 a.m. Monday evening local time, the inhabitants of the famous Ocean drive at street level 1, meters from the park South Point, they heard a series of gunshots which alerted the quiet neighborhood.

Police say dozens of neighbors called to report a series of blows, so intense that some even thought it was fireworks. On social media, personal videos have appeared of people recording noise with their cell phones from balconies.

Upon their arrival, the police from Miami Beach they found two injured people. One bullet in the leg and the other in the shoulder. The identity of the victims, who are expected to survive without a problem, has not been disclosed. Nor the reason for the confrontation with the guns.

So far there have been no official arrests for what happened, but the spokesperson for the beach police, Ernesto Rodriguez, confirmed to the local press that there are several detainees linked to the investigation who are being questioned. As a precaution, the police closed the bridge for a few hours Mc Arthur, which connects Miami Beach to the city of Miami. As of Tuesday morning, normal traffic was restored to the area.

Beyond the mass shooting on Sunday – described by witnesses as a war zone because more than 100 shots were fired – and the shooting at South Point, there have been two violent incidents in the area of Wynwood, in the town of Miami.

On Friday, very close to midnight, one person died and six were injured. In another incident in the same neighborhood, a man attempted to assault another and the thief was found dead after the victim fired in self-defense.

The mayor of Miami Dade, Daniela Levina Cava, is committed to fighting armed violence.
