“Definitions hours”: the latest government request to exporters to comment on the stock of meat

Amid tough negotiations with exporters, the government asked the sector for a new requirement as a preliminary step to reopen meat sales abroad.

Remember that the government has left open sales to the Hilton and 481 quotas (for Europe) and the United States. It closed sales when 75% of the meat goes to China with meat that is not widely consumed in the country.

“Everything is under discussion, these are hours of definitions,” said the source familiar with the talks, who said there are permanent contacts with the authorities.

The companies are “doing accounts” after the demand for the export plan that the government intends.

Excluding offers from supermarkets and other meat shops, meat exporters had offered some 7,000 tonnes of meat at reduced prices. From now on, he would have proposed going up to 10,000 tonnes. “They offer more meat,” he added. Meanwhile, other refrigerators offered 2,000 tonnes last week and supermarkets offered 3,000 tonnes.

Before the shutdown of exports ordered by Alberto Fernández on May 17, the exporters had agreed on a program of eleven cuts at reduced values. Among the demands, this plan must also follow.

Added to all these demands is something that emerged last week: that there be cuts that are not sold overseas. In this light, the government’s interest in limiting exports of products such as barbecue, meat, vacuum, among others, had transcended.
