The case, which was the subject of a study published Tuesday on the site Annals of Internal MedicineHe had been registered at the age of 14 and his parents took him to the doctor for his chronic fatigue.

The couple said that they were still "difficult to eat," and that his diet consisted of white bread, sausages and fries. But his health was good and he was not medicated, reported the site. Breakingnews.ie.

At this age the boy already had anemia and a lack of vitamin B12. He was treated with injections, but a year later, on the same diet, he already had a sensorineural hearing loss.

For the 17th the boy, who weighs and measures the average values expected for your age, already had an optic neuropathy caused by "purely nutritional causes", which is "rare in developed countries".

It was only then that the boy became honest and said that since elementary school, he does not eat food with "certain textures".

His breakfast, to name just one example, consists of a serving of French fries and the rest of the day he ate more potatoes, but to the tube, in addition to the processed ham, sausages and white bread.

The doctors referred the boy to a mental health clinic for him to be treated for his disorder "to avoid / limit food intake".

The disorder is not based on weight, but on "lack of interest in food, a pronounced sensitivity to texture and fear of the consequences of eating".

The boy received dietary supplements that corrected his deficiencies. With the treatment, his vision stabilized but did not improve.
