A 30-year-old mystery is solved: why did Garfield phones appear on French beaches?

For more than 30 years, remnants of the shape of the cat Garfield, the character created by Jim Davis, appeared on the beaches of Brittany in western France. The mystery, finally, has been solved: they discovered a container sunk in front of the coast that was filled with these machines.

"We found this Failed 30 meters deep and deep well were the remains of a container"he explained to the news agency AFP Claire Simonin, president of the Ar Viltansoù badociation, responsible for cleaning the beaches of the region.

"Our badociation has existed for 18 years and since its existence we find Garfield phones almost every cleaning", the famous orange cat created by American cartoonist Jim Davis in 1978, said Simonin.

The president of this badociation confirmed that the discovery was made thanks to the contribution of a local resident who, in the early 1980s, had found a broken container filled with Garfield phones.

The man pointed to the place, a cave almost completely submerged, explained Simonin and organized an expedition that resulted in the discovery.
