The American Bone and Minerals Research Society (ASBMR) awards three such distinctions to researchers from the United States and two from the rest of the world: one of them traveled in Argentina and landed at the Laboratory of Bone Biology. A Study with the Future [19659002] In 2015, Brun and his team published a study to comprehensively badess the effect of yerba mate on bones. In this context, they carried out experimental work and achieved the following results: the bone mineral density and the number of trabeculae in the bone were higher in the experimental animals that received an infusion of yerba mate.
Brown, in 2016 received a grant from the National Institute of Yerba Mate (INYM) and in 2017 from the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Advancement (ANPCyT).
In 2017, the researcher presented at the ASBMR Congress in Denver (Colorado, USA) the results of his research on the positive effect of individual components of yerba mate on bone cells
Regarding the current work of the research team, Brown says: "We evaluate the effect of the components in combined form, the effect of a yerba mate with greater antioxidant capacity in an in vivo model and further studies will be conducted to evaluate the oxidative stress parameters tending to study the possible mechanism of action. "
At this time, CONICET and the Institute National Yerba call to submit candidates for doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships to develop research related to the production, processing and consumption of yerba mate.
