Curaçao authorities discuss how to respond to a cruise with 300 people aboard heading to this Dutch Caribbean island after being quarantined in the vicinity of Santa Lucia for a confirmed case of measles.
The ship left Santa Lucia Thursday late after two days of quarantine. The authorities stated that the ship's doctor asked for 100 vaccines after a woman in the crew was diagnosed with measles. It was unclear at the moment if the cruise was staying in Santa Lucia and there was no official response from the health officials.

The ship Freewinds is property of the Church of Scientology. Church officials also did not comment on the situation.
The ship is scheduled to arrive in Curaçao on Saturday morning, where it is usually docked. The ship operates as a religious retreat, according to the church's website.
Some of the symptoms of measles are runny nose, fever and rash with red spots. Most people get better, but measles can also cause pneumonia, brain inflammation and, in some cases, death.
So far this year, more than 700 people have contracted measles in 22 US states, the highest number in 25 years. Federal authorities say the outbreak is due to misinformation about vaccines. In New York, the situation is critical in many Orthodox Jewish communities and in one county, they prohibit unvaccinated children from traveling to public places.
