A Russian windsurfing died last Monday after crashing into the Meteor pbadenger hydrofoil in St. Petersburg.
Artiom Akimov, 18, was part of the young Russian windsurfing team. He was training when the fatal accident occurred in the waters of the Gulf of Finland. A surveillance camera recorded the last seconds of the young athlete's life.
During his performance, he crossed the Gulf, he arrived to the Vasilevsky Island, he gave the return and on his return, about 60 kilometers to the hour, he struck completely the boat.
During the examination of the impact, it was not yet possible to determine why the captain of the ship paid no attention to Akimov and did not slow down. The divers found the body several hours later.
From the Ministry of Emergency Situations, they stated that, when approaching the ship route, the victim had violated the maritime legislation.
