A kind of "ura" affected a British woman and the case was treated in the British Medical Journal

From time to time, medical cases emerge, revealing realities worthy of horror movies. This is the case of a recent case, revealed by the British Medical Journal, which occurred in the United Kingdom.

A woman went to the doctor suffering from intense pain and swelling of the forehead. It was discovered that they were caused by two worms that lived inside his face.

The woman, whose identity has not pbaded her age (55 years), received a first diagnosis: an insect bite. A few days later, he went back to the doctor and told him that the pain was unbearable. He was prescribed rest and antibiotics, but the swelling spread to his eyes and began to secrete a liquid, accompanied by sharp pains.

The lady went to the emergency room and they discovered that a worm was coming out of the main package. After an ultrasound, they found a second live larva on her face, which had to be removed surgically. The invaders were sent to the London School of Tropical Medicine because the patient had just been to Uganda and they suspected that this trip had something to do with it. Indeed, the badyzes revealed that it was larvae of the family Cordylobia rodhaini, or Lund fly, a typical species of African rainforests.

Apparently, this fly searches for fine-skinned mammals to deposit its larvae, which ripen under the skin, until the larva leaves the wound and, after falling to the ground, emerges as a fly. According to the British Medical Journal, only 14 equal cases have been registered worldwide.
