A man got married 4 times a month for a paid vacation

According to the work rules Taiwanese, people who get married have the right to eight days off and paid. A man, whose identity is unknown, wanted to take advantage of this rule to have a whole month of vacation while still receiving income.

During 37 days, a man he married the same woman four times, divorcing her three times. His goal was to make the most of a Taiwanese regulation that grants eight days of paid vacation to those who marry.

After getting married for the first time in April 2020 and spending the eight days on vacation, he and his partner filled out the divorce papers. The next day, they got married again, and the groom requested an additional eight days of paid vacation. With its performance, I would have 32 days of absence from work with paid payment.

According to the media of Taiwan, the man worked in a bank, which he suspected of his employee. After finding out about his intentions, he was approved for the first week of paid absence, but refused the other three.

However, the boyfriend implemented his plan and reported his employer in the Labor office, in the town of Taipei.

The complaint led to an investigation, which concluded that the bank had violated the Labor law. For this reason, in October of last year, the financial institution was fined 20,000 yuan; that is to say approximately 3000 dollars.

Faced with this situation, the bank appealed against the decision of Taipei office. According to the financial institution, malicious abuse of the law on the part of the man was not a legitimate cause to grant the licenses of the other three marriages.

However, the appeal was dismissed and the Beishi Labor Office, in the Chinese province of Hebei, confirmed the authorities’ initial decision in Taipei this month, a year after four marriages and three divorces.

Both offices acknowledged that the actions of the bank employee were highly suspicious. However, the Beishi Labor Office The bank said it had broken the law and according to the law only the said financial institution could be punished.

This case, in addition to being unusual, revealed the legal loopholes that exist in various laws of this Asian territory.
