A meteorite fell in Cuba with a strong explosion

"The explosion felt on several territories of the province of Pinar del Rio, in the extreme west of Cuba, could be the result of a meteorite", detailed state Prensa Latina.

The rumors and the flash in the sky around 14:00 (17:00 GMT) have been reported by many people on their social networks, with publications accompanied by images.

The journalists of Telepinar, an official newspaper, broadcast photos of fist – sized black rocks that fell in the town of Viñales, near the prehistoric tourist fresco.

According to the vice president of the board of directors in Viñales, Osmany Moseguí, no affected person has yet been reported.

"In Viñales, several stone particles have fallen, the largest we have heard so far is between 20 and 30 centimeters on the road that leads to the Prehistory Mural, one of the attractions of the tourist destination. from Pinar del Río, and left traces " he maintained.

Moseguí told Prensa Latina that many people took to the streets with surprise.

The headquarters of the National Meteorological Service in Cayo Hueso (NWS) reported via Twitter that it had received information about "Meteor seen in the sky above the Florida Keys".
