“We have discovered a hybrid variant, combining Indian and British,” Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long announced at a meeting on the pandemic.

“The main characteristic of this virus is that it is transmitted quickly through the air. The concentration of the virus in the throat and in the saliva increases rapidly and spreads rapidly in a nearby environment,” he added.

The new conditions relate to a 27-year-old man who arrived from Japan on April 7 and a Chinese expert who was entering the country for work, according to the news agency. Europa Press.

Vietnam has so far reported seven variants of the virus in its territory. The country was praised for its handling of the first wave of the pandemic last year, against which it applied mass quarantines and a strict system of diagnosis and isolation.

At this time and due to the increase in infections, movement is very limited and places of recreation and worship are closed in several regions.

Vietnam has a population of 97 million and has so far vaccinated a million people. The authorities want to pick up the pace and achieve collective immunity by the end of the year.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Asian country has recorded nearly 6,400 infections and 47 deaths.
