A one year old baby died after falling from his grandfather's arms during a luxury cruise

A baby from Indiana (United States) stepped out of his grandfather's arms and died after falling off a cruise ship moored in Puerto Rico, officials said Monday.

Police said the grandfather of the one-year-old girl said she was released while loading her at the 11th floor window of Freedom of the Seas. The grandfather has been identified as Salvatore Anello.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon at the Pan Am Wharf in San Juan.

Royal Caribbean Cruises described this incident as a tragic incident and stated that he was helping the family. He refused to give more details.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the event.
