A plane crashed in Colombia and its 14 occupants died – 03/10/2019

At least 14 people, including a miner, died Saturday when a plane from the airline Laser crashed into a plane jungle area of ​​the Colombian department of Meta, in the center of the country.

The death toll was confirmed by Civil Aeronautics, who said in a statement that the crew had been trained by pilot Jaime Carrillo, co-pilot Jaime Herrera and coach Alex Moreno.

Among the pbadengers was the Mayor of the municipality of Taraira, in the department of Vaupés, Doris Villegas, her husband, Alejandro Fonseca, and their daughter.

At first, Lieutenant Fernando Martínez, coordinator of the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD) in Villavicencio, capital of Meta, informed reporters that there had been 12 deaths.

"We have a group of 12 dead … We have 10 pbadengers, including a minor, and a pilot and a co-pilot for a total of 12 dead," Martinez said.

According to Civil Aeronautics, the registration aircraft HK-2494, which covered the road between San José del Guaviare, capital of the department of Guaviare, and Villavicencio "it was declared urgently" around 10:40 local (12:40 in Argentina) for which "all the protocols of attention and research were activated".

"According to preliminary information, the plane was found on the road (hamlet) of La Bendición", reported Aeronáutica Civil.

For his part, Martinez explained that La Bendición, which is part of the municipality of San Martín (Meta), was sent to the Red Cross and firefighters in the region.

The American-made DC-3 has come into force operation in Colombia in 1935, but more than 80 years later, some of these aircraft still operate in remote areas of Colombia, mainly for flights in the Llanos Oriental region.
