Eight people died when the plane they were traveling in crashed into a building and a fire was kindled in the city of San Donato, on the outskirts of Milan.
Firefighters confirmed the plane was a Piper model and crashed near San Donato station on Milan Metro Line 3 at 1:09 p.m. local time. In the accident the pilot, co-pilot and the six passengers they were carrying died, including a child.
Always the causes of the accident are under investigation. The plane had taken off a few minutes before Linate Airport and was heading for Olbia, on the island of Sardinia, but rushed soon after takeoff.
Building two floors the one that the plane hit was empty and it served as a parking lot. In addition, it was being restored and there was no one inside, the mayor of San Donato, Andrea Cecchi, confirmed to the channel “Skytg24”.
The building was completely destroyed after the impact and the flames were extinguished after the firefighters intervened.
According to some media, the victims are of French nationality, but this information is not yet confirmed.
