A rescuer found his daughter’s body in the rubble

A Miami City Firefighter working through the rubble of the collapsed building in Surfside, Miami-Dade, found the body of her 7 year old daughter that she had been missing since the tragedy, according to Local 10.

The channel had advanced the episode this morning based on the testimony of another man who works in rescue missions, and who had asked not to be identified. The news is now confirmed by the authorities.

According to this source, when the girl’s body was found, other rescuers brought her down from the mountain of rubble and the deceased’s father covered her with his jacket and placed a small American flag on it.

Authorities also reported that on Friday another body was found, in addition to that of the 7-year-old girl, who raised total deaths to 20. The number of missing in the collapse of June 24 reached 145.

In her traditional press conference, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava mentioned the high “human cost” who undergoes the operation among the first responders and asked everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

Rescue resumed Thursday afternoon, after an interruption of about fifteen hours due to movements in the part of the building still standing.

Daniella Levine Cava said Thursday that it is very likely that this part will be demolished, but it will be the engineers accompanying the relief workers who will decide how to deal with this new problem, in addition to the possible arrival of Hurricane Elsa in South Florida early next week.

On Thursday, US President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, traveled to Miami-Dade to meet with emergency officials, rescuers and survivors and the families of the victims and missing.

Biden promised that the federal government would cover the expenses for the first 30 days after the tragedy.

In the last hours, the identity of one of the dead was known. This is Magaly Elena Delgada, an 80-year-old Cuban who lived alone in one of the apartments in the collapsed building.

One of Royal Caribbean’s cruises, the Explorer of The Seas, is serving as accommodation for rescuers and his dogs arrived in Miami-Dade to assist with search and rescue efforts

The huge ship, with a capacity of more than 3,000 passengers, has been in the Port of Miami since Thursday and has already hosted 80 rescuers, said Michael Bayley, CEO of Royal Caribbean.
