There are 106 million people affected.

A Seattle system engineer has just marked the biggest banking data breach in history. Thirty-three-year-old Paige Thompson hacked Capital One's bank account by stealing information from 106 million people, mostly from the United States and the rest of Canada.

The bank itself acknowledged it and the federal authorities announced that Thompson was already in detention.

The woman, who also uses the erratic nickname, has been charged with computer fraud and computer abuse in the Seattle District Court. The suspect appeared in court and will remain in detention until Thursday's hearing.

The abuser has obtained information such as ratings and credit history, as well as social security numbers from clients, the bank said. The entity will offer free credit monitoring services to those concerned. Thompson left a series of computer traces that allowed the investigators to find her, according to court documents in Seattle, where she was arrested.
