“Mr. Guillermo del Toro, I am Adhara Maite, I am studying two engineering studies at the CNCI school, I was invited to Alabama to represent Mexico, I dream of being an astronaut”, was the message sent by the Mexican girl of genius who, in recent years, has shone the spotlight on her great intelligence which, with an IQ of 162, surpasses that of geniuses like Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking.

Adhara Pérez is a 9-year-old girl who lives in Mexico City. She has already completed primary, secondary and high school studies and is currently studying two university degrees: Industrial Engineering in Mathematics at UNITEC and Systems Engineering by CNCI.

She has a big dream: to become a NASA astronaut. In fact, he wants to study astrophysics at the University of Alabama. And little by little, he is getting closer to this destination. In 2019, Adhara participated in SpaceUp Mexico, an event on space. In 2020, the same Arizona university invited her to visit the NASA facilities.

This time he was accepted into the 2021 International Air and Space Program, and that’s why he turned to the Mexican filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro, winner of the Oscar for best director, known for his support for these noble causes.

Adhara Pérez has an IQ of 162 (IQ): two points above that of geniuses like Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking. When I was three years old they diagnosed him with an autism spectrum. More specifically, Asperger’s syndrome.

Adhara’s state of health caused her to have a very difficult time in school. Their Kindergarten classmates called him “weird”; her teachers isolated and hung her up, and it didn’t help her integration that in plays she always played the part of a tree.

Despite the lack of inclusion, her mother, who graduated in psychology, never stopped believing in her. On the recommendation of a psychiatrist took her to the Talent Service Center (CEDAT), and there the experts confirmed she was gifted: she scored 162 (IQ). At 130 (IQ), you are already considered gifted.

From then on, everything changed. Adhara completed high school in record time and is now studying at university. In 2019, was chosen by the magazine Forbes as one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico. His dream is to one day apply to NASA and go to Mars. A desire that could be complicated by the lack of grants from public bodies and by the reality of the family economy.

“What is most difficult for me is that She clings to the fact that she wants to be an astronaut, and that she wants to go, to the United States. And we have to give the economy a boost so that it doesn’t get frustrated, ”Adhara’s mother Nallely told Infobae Mexico. “What he needs to realize his dream is to have the economy to get there.”

That Adhara had thought of Guillermo del Toro to ask for help for his cause was no accident. And it is that the award-winning filmmaker was characterized by the support of young talents.

During the last of his interventions, last October, Guillermo del Toro challenged Aeroméxico to travel to exceptional Mexicans who need it and have no support.

This challenge was posted on the Twitter account of the director of The shape of water, in order to providing this help to those who need it most.

“On my birthday, I invite @Aeromexico and @AeromexicoUSA to commit, from 2021, to giving, initially for three years, 10 annual trips to exceptional Mexicans who need to travel and who do not no support. I torment him – How do they see her? Are they the right size? DM over here- ”wrote the winner.

Aeroméxico’s social networks were quick to respond. “With pleasure @RealGDT We agree to DM”.

The acclaimed Mexican director is a character who helps his compatriots move forward, that is why he supports people who do not have the same opportunities as him.

His kind heart also characterized him, because in 2017, someone asked him via his Twitter account to help him retweet his post in which he asked for “900,000 USD” for a friend who had to undergo a biopsy, but the filmmaker did not retweet it but paid for this biopsy.

Del Toro also covered the cost of plane tickets for 12 members of the Math Olympics team in South Africa., in May 2020, when candidates asked for donations to be able to purchase their tickets.
