The President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, must undergo a PCR test due to contact with a positive case of covid-19 which he maintained after taking the first dose of the anticovid vaccine last Monday.

Lacalle Pou went to Maciel Hospital in Montevideo last Monday to be vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine from China.

There, in addition to the press, he was received by several people, among whom there were complaints for better health conditions and greetings from others.

One of those who took a photo with the president who local media reported was a hospital pharmacy official tested positive.

According to the National Emergency System (Sinae) report this Saturday, there have been 2,339 new cases of covid-19 in the South American country. Currently, the whole country is in the red, according to the Harvard risk index, and the departments bordering Brazil, Cerro Largo and Rivera, continue to be the most affected with 171.26 and 149.21 respectively, while as the country registers an average of 65.43 new cases in the past seven days.

Regarding vaccination, 717,065 people have already been inoculated with the first dose of Coronavac or Pfizer, while 67,969 have already received the second dose. In this way, there are already 20.45% of the country with the first part of the vaccination and 1.94% fully vaccinated.
