After the attempted coup d'état, Leopoldo López left the Chilean embassy and left for Spain

"Lilian Tintori and Leopoldo López, of Spanish descent, have settled at the Spanish embbady. It's a personal decision, given that our embbady already had guests", Tweeted Ampuero on the official report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile.

In the Chilean legation remain for more than a year, opposition MP Freddy Guevara and political leader Roberto Enríquez. López and his family are "under the diplomatic protection of Chile" and none of them have "applied for asylum," Ampuero said at a press conference in Santiago.

Arrested in 2014, López was serving a sentence of almost 14 years in prison since 2017, accused of inciting violent demonstrations against the Chavez government.
