After the earthquake in New Zealand, they warn of possible tsunamis in Latin America

The inhabitants of coastal areas and those located in island areas of Chile tonight will begin to be evacuated by a tsunami threat, generated after the magnitude 8.1 earthquake that hit New Zealand, according to authorities in the neighboring country.

The National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security (Onemi), assured in its official Twitter account that the tidal waves will reach the coasts of Chile early in the morning, therefore the red alert and preventive evacuation.

In this way, the evacuation of the inhabitants of the coast took place from the towns of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Lib. Peru is also taking precautions in this regard. and the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation of the Peruvian Navy issued a tsunami alert on the entire coastline Peruvian after the earthquakes in New Zealand.

In this context, the National Tsunami Warning Center conducted an assessment of the movement and determined that it generates a tsunami warning on the Peruvian coast.
