After the wave of demonstrations, the governor of Puerto Rico has resigned | Chronic

The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, resigned Thursday morning after two weeks of demonstrations of citizens dismissed because of the leak of messages of homophobic and macho discussions between him and his main collaborators.

Rosselló's announcement came after politicians threatened political trials and after thousands of people invaded the streets demanding his departure.

Last Wednesday, throughout the afternoon, the crowd waited in the streets for the promised message, which took seven hours longer than expected.

The wait was tense at a time when dozens of policemen armed with riot gear left the governor's residence and threatened protesters with complaining about the crowd: "We want peace and they want war!" they shouted.
