President Alberto Fernández communicated this afternoon by telephone with the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, who will take office in January next year. Fernández congratulated Biden on his victory in the November 3 election.

In this way, the Argentine head of state maintained his first contact with the next US president, who prevailed in the US elections over Republican Donald Trump.

The contact had been working for a few days by the ambassador in this country, Jorge Argüello, who was visiting Argentina last week. With Trump, Alberto Fernández had communicated only once.

The contact, which lasted around 35 minutes, was also followed by Chief of Staff Santiago Cafiero, official sources reported.
