As part of the 48th anniversary of the coup against the socialist president, Fernández posted on his official Twitter account a photo next to a plaque in memory of the head of state who died in the coup and has quoted his last words.

In his tweet, the Argentine president recalled that these were “Salvador Allende’s last words” on September 11 “when a coup d’état attacked democracy and put an end to his life”. “The Chilean people remember.”

Allende died in this attack on La Moneda, seat of government, in the midst of a bombardment that led to the military uprising led by General Augusto Pinochet. That day began a brutal dictatorship that lasted until 1990, with thousands missing and Chile turned into a laboratory of neoliberalism.
