Alert in Portugal for the “sudden” death of a nurse two days after being vaccinated

Sudden death of the health worker Sonia azevedo, two days after the application of the Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus-19, it triggered the alerts in Portugal. The results of the autopsy are awaited to determine if the death is related to adverse effects of the vaccine.

According to The newspaper, Azevedo, 41, worked as an assistant at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Porto, where he received a dose of the vaccine on December 30. On January 1, he passed away at home in his sleep.

According to a statement released last Sunday by the board of directors of the IPO Azevedo’s death came “suddenly”. Likewise, it is specified that upon receipt of the vaccine and in the following days, the nurse did not experience any “ill effects”.

Azevedo’s family spoke to local media in Portugal after her sudden death, stressing that the nurse had no symptoms and was in good health after receiving the vaccine.

His father, Abílio Azevedo, told Portuguese media Morning mail: “He spent New Years Eve with us and he was fine. He had already received the vaccine. He didn’t complain of pain or anything. Therefore, I do not understand how this could have happened.

While the results of the autopsy are awaited to clarify the existence or not of a relationship between the vaccine and the death of Azevedo, in the last hours the Portuguese health authorities have asked for caution and responsibility before venturing into this cause and effect relationship, especially now, in the process of vaccinating its population.
